FUNERAL CONSUMERS EDUCATION FOUNDATIONNEW FUNERAL CONSUMERS EDUCATION FOUNDATION FORMED TO INFORM PUBLIC, MONITOR LEGISLATION With recent achievement of tax-free status, bulk mailing privileges and other benefits, the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Oregon (FCAO) has created a sister organization. It meets mandatory federal requirements while separating some of our functions. The new arm is called the Funeral Consumers Education Foundation (FCEF).
We expect the coexistence of these arms to be seamless although they are separate legal entities. Each will be governed by the same elected board and officers and there will be no change in our office address or telephone number. The arms will also share our primary mission to help Oregonians plan dignified, meaningful and affordable end-of-life services. We provide to each member a list of discounted prices for services our contracting mortuaries, crematoriums and cemeteries have agreed to honor at the time of need.
FCEF and FCAO are non-sectarian and open to all. Neither sells any funeral products or services, although these may be provided by FCAO's contract mortuaries.
FCEF provides speakers, distributes literature, monitors Oregon funeral legislation, provides background information to the news media and answers questions about funeral law, home funerals and green burials and the like. We are now surveying Oregon mortuaries for current prices offered to the general public, a list to be published on this website when complete. Donations to FCEF are tax-deductible.
FCAO, on the other hand, concentrates on member services. It contracts with mortuaries, crematoriums and cemeteries to provide discounted rates for our members.
To make a tax deductible contribution
EVERY DOLLAR WILL HELP US HELP YOU Because members pay a low, one-time membership fee, FCAO needs to attract new members if we are to thrive and grow. We can do this only by using your donations to reach those who haven't yet gotten our message. We sincerely appreciate your past contributions, but our treasury is insufficient to promote our services to new families and attract additional donations.
Recent formation of FCEF will enable us to support a website, expand our print newsletter, and open email communication with you. We also plan to strengthen our speakers bureau and legislative relations in Oregon.
Remember that donatons to FCEF are tax-deductible, while those to FCAO are not. You may donate to either or both, but please write separate checks as follows:
Payable to: Funeral Consumers Education Foundation (FCEF) or
Payable to: Funeral Consumers Alliance of Oregon (FCAO)
MAIL YOUR CHECK TO: 13038 SE Kronan Drive Clackamas, OR 97015
